PERSONALITY INFO
Gimmick
A mastermind. Chuck has had a long career and a reputation as a “thinking man’s wrestler.” Equally deadly inside the ring as outside, Chuck is ruthless, respected (and perhaps feared) for putting several wrestling promotions out of business over the years, either by buying them outright, or by manipulating other factors to ensure his competition is left with no other choice but to close their doors.
Strengths
Not Just a Nickname
Chuck lives up to his reputation as the brightest mind in the business. Outside the ring, this manifests in a sharp business sense, a strong understanding of psychology, and an uncanny ability to predict the way events will unfold and people will react. As a wrestler, his ring IQ is often respected as among the best, able to adapt as matches go on, quickly learning opponents on the fly, and finding ways to counter maneuvers, even those he hasn’t seen before, to create new plans and strategies, even if his initial course of action proves unviable as a match goes on.
One Kick, Ten Thousand Times
Nearing 40, Chuck is among the oldest on any roster, but with that comes nearly two decades of experience, both in the ring and out of it. Chuck has the accomplishments to match: Throughout his career, there was only one company he walked in where he was unable to win gold. Additionally, his moveset, while fairly basic, has changed little over the years. Nearly twenty years of utilizing his Hollywood Impact move, for instance, has made him a master of the simple spear, having practiced it for so long that he’s learned how to use it to inflict maximum damage.
Simple but Effective
It has been noted by fans and critics alike that Chuck has a fairly simple moveset that has changed little throughout his career. Though he adds his own flair, and IS fully capable of hitting flashier, more advanced moves, his go-to moveset is fairly basic. Without the added complexity, Chuck is able to return to “bare bones” wrestling, where he can rely on his own distinct advantages, rather than flashy or complicated moves, to win.
Weaknesses
No Fly Zone
Chuck rarely, if ever, goes to the top rope, and he tends to avoid climbing in ladder matches until he’s certain he has a good chance of winning. Additionally, Chuck also tends to struggle more against aerial/high flying wrestlers more than any other style, as their speed and unpredictability serves as a tough foil to his grounded and methodical defensive style.
It’s All In Your Head
Where most others maintain a healthy balance between their thoughts and their feelings, Chuck exists almost exclusively in his head, and appears totally detached from his own emotions. He has a tendency to come off as cold, uncaring, and many times, apathetic to the plight of others. This tends to cause more problems than it solves, as it results in many of his personal and professional relationships falling apart, and it gives Chuck a very polarizing personality.
Kneecapped
While Chuck’s health remains high and he still maintains the physical shape befitting of a wrestler, his age has certainly taken its toll. He has a surgically repaired knee from earlier in his career. While it wasn’t a terrible concern in years past, as he’s gotten older it’s undoubtedly the weakest point on his body.

CHARACTER HISTORY/BIO
For a man who has been in the business as long as Chuck Matthews has, remarkably little is known about his life outside the ring. He takes great care in keeping his personal life private, although it's known to many that he owns a spacious property and a large home in the northern suburbs of Chicago where he lives alone: His last marriage was short-lived following the untimely death of his newborn son. While once one of the more outspoken celebrities in his line of work, Chuck has gotten more quiet and reclusive with age: He is rarely seen in the public sphere, even for his own company, opting instead to let executives and spokespeople appear on his behalf. Chuck is known to keep isolated at wrestling events, arriving shortly after everyone else to avoid crowds, then leaving promptly after his match concludes. He isn’t unprofessional: When called upon for an interview or to interact with fans, Chuck gladly fulfills his obligations; despite his reputation as one of wrestling’s villains, he’s known to be easy to approach and is not one to lose his temper or get into physical altercations outside the ring.
Outside the ring, Chuck is the head of Matthews Enterprises, a worldwide tech conglomerate with branching companies delving into mass media, entertainment, telecommunications, and, most recently, biotechnology. The company has been known to be the exclusive television and pay-per-view provider for several wrestling companies over the years, including NLWF, IWF, Pride, the GWA promotions, and is currently responsible for airing Millennium Wrestling. Matthews Enterprises owns several venues around the country devoted to various sports and entertainment mediums, the largest of these being the Enterprise Arena located in Chicago. In 2011, the company also introduced the wrestling world to Enterprise Security, heavily equipped personnel tasked with safeguarding present and future assets of the company by any means necessary. This elite task force both incited fear in fans and foes alike, and coupled with known business deals in China and Japan, raised heavy suspicion that Chuck's company had its feet in far darker waters below the surface.
Personality-wise, Chuck tends to change very little whether on-camera or off, and tends to behave largely the same whether being cheered on TV or booed. Chuck's aim is, more often than not, to serve Chuck, and he's not terribly bothered by what fans think of it: the way he sees it, they'll react the way they'll react, and to change his own behavior to influence that is a waste of his time. Even here, he's made exceptions to his own rules: He has been known to pander to crowds or actively villify himself in situations where fan reaction in one way or another is critical to the success of his plans. Generally speaking, Chuck tends to be witty and sarcastic, deeply introspective, and speaks to his audiences with a calm, collected demeanor, breaking down his complex and, oftentimes, unorthodox thoughts and ideas and presenting them in words everybody understands.
Chuck has won championships in near every company he’s stepped foot in, with EXODUS wrestling serving as the sole exception. Over the span of his near twenty-year career, Chuck has nine world championships to his name, thirteen tag team championships, and a smattering of other smaller titles and awards from different promotions.
