#TheSocietyShowcase #1
Detroit, Michigan
February 5, 2018
6:38 PM
The camera focuses on a huge, abandoned warehouse in the heart of industrial Detroit, Michigan. Night has fallen, and the scene is dimly lit by steel drums that are lit on fire, with the flames flickering enough light to showcase the warehouse and the people around it. As the camera pans out, we see Becky Balfour-Lawless, Seth Lawless, Warren Corbett, Trent Grundy, and Elodie standing side by side, in front of the large warehouse. Behind them, in front of the warehouse, we see people of the community. Most appear to be unkept, homeless, wanderers. Becky steps forward out of the lineup of Society members. The voice of the group is wearing a black leather jacket, black skirt, with fishnet tights, and black boots. Her breath is visible due to the cold weather as she speaks.
Becky Balfour-Lawless: Tonight, history will be made. A first ever event of its kind takes place, right here in Detroit. We arent in a world famous arena. We arent charging people money to come watch a wrestling show. This isnt about money, at least not for those of us competing. Its about showing the world exactly who we are, where we come from, and where were going. Liam Callaghan showed that he has more guts than any other member in his family by agreeing to be my opponent in #TheSocietyShowcase. What exactly is #TheSocietyShowcase ? Its simple. Two people enter a ring, a ring that will be housed in the warehouse behind me. The only spectators will be anyone who enters that warehouse, but entry is only permitted if they are wearing a Society t-shirt.
The other four members of #TheSociety smile and nod in unison behind Balfour-Lawless.
Becky Balfour-Lawless: So, whats the point of this, thats what everyone is asking. The point is, bringing entertainment back to a neighborhood often ignored by the rest of the world. This particular area, used to be a hot bed for a thriving economy. This warehouse employed many, but with its closure, they have been forgotten. They have been left for dead, but tonight that changes. #TheSociety is about change, were about improving our community. So after this match tonight, if I win $10,000 will fall from the ceiling of this old, powerless warehouse. The forgotten will feast.
Becky turns around to face her family members. The confidence in their eyes, evident. All of them place their hands over their hearts. All are clad in #TheSociety t-shirts.
Becky Balfour-Lawless: Tonight, I represent each and every one of you. I am Seth Lawless. I am Warren Corbett. I am Trent Grundy. I am Elodie. Im even Gray Malone. I am all of us. WE will all be in that ring, united in spirit, fighting using my body as a vessel. I wont let you down. Liam Callaghans pain and suffering will pale in comparison to the suffering all of us have experienced in our lives. Liam Callaghan will become a hero in Detroit, as his loss will signal victory for all of the Followers in attendance, hungry, starving. Liam, through us, will make a change, but Liam himself, will be a victim. Liam embodies those with power. Those who are corrupt. Liam is a Callaghan. For months, his father has not only looked down on us, he has failed to ever acknowledge our contribution to the success of Liberty. Liam will pay for the sins of his father.
Balfour-Lawless turns back to face the camera.
Becky Balfour-Lawless: Im Becky Balfour-Lawless. Im the voice of those who are ignored. We have been ignored for far too long. Despite everything we accomplish, we are constantly told that were nothing. That were trash. Tell me...who else is doing for their community what we do for ours?
Becky drops to her knees and starts laughing, but the laugh turns to a sobbing affair in seconds. Though hard to see because of the poor lighting, Becky is clearly emotional as her arms are outstretched while she remains on her knees. The other four members walk up behind her. Seth rests a hand on the top of her head. Warren and Elodie rest a hand on her jacket clad right arm while Trent rests a hand on her left arm.
Becky Balfour-Lawless: Tonight, I take the pain of those like us, and I bestow it upon Liam Callaghan. We are the change
A sobbing Beckys body rocks back and forth as the feed shuts to darkness.

Inside The Warehouse
9:30 PM
There are multiple cameras inside the abandoned warehouse. With no electricity, the warehouse is lit by more of the steel drums that were outside of the warehouse, all lit on fire at the tops of the drums. The light from the fire is enough to showcase the old ring in the middle of the warehouse. The ropes are a dusty red. The heat from the steel drums also provides decent warmth in the otherwise freezing warehouse. Surrounding the ring are around one hundred members of the Detroit community, all wearing #TheSociety t-shirts. There is a man in the middle of the ring. Hes wearing a long, dark trench coat and has a fedora pulled down over his face. He begins shouting so that everyone around the ring can hear him.
The Informer: My name is The Informer and I am your official ring announcer for this one of a kind, event.
A referee wearing official pinstripes slides under the bottom rope and into the ring.
The scene cut outside to the warehouse, as Liam and Paz Callaghan were walking up to the entrance. Liam was already in his ring gear and Paz was wearing a shirt with Liams name on it in support of him. Liam glances over at the camera recording them and he smirks.
Liam Callaghan: Oh? Is this where you want me to say a little something before this match with Becky?
He pauses as he thinks over what he wants to say before he finally starts to speak.
Liam Callaghan: I didnt show up here tonight to support my dad or anyone else. Im here on my own will, to support myself. Becky wanted to see if I was passionate? She wanted to see if I would step up to a last minute fight on her terms, in front of all of her people? She wanted to see if I would be man enough to fight her with all of the odds stacked in her favor?
Liam holds out his arms and smiles.
Liam Callaghan: Well here I am. Ill fight anyone in the ring, anywhere, at any time. Theres a reason that I never lost the PNW Championship during my time there. It was because nobody fought harder than me and because I did things the right way Unlike you Becky. Your ways caught up to you in Liberty and thats why you lost to Melissa, the same way youre going to lose to me tonight.
Liam steps closer towards the camera as he keeps his eyes on it.
Liam Callaghan: Tonight, Becky wanted me to embrace her and #TheSociety but instead? Shes going to see how things are done the right way. Im going to show her what it means to be a fighter Im going to show her what passion in this ring truly means because right now? Theres nobody more passionate than me.
He nods and heads for the door, where a couple of large Society followers let him in but stop Paz. Paz looks up at them with a scowl as she barks at them.
Paz Callaghan: If you dont let me in, Ill take both of your heads off.
She glares at them before one of them holds out a #Society shirt towards her. Paz rolls her eyes before yanking it away from their hands and then putting it on.
Paz Callaghan: There. Happy?
The followers step out of the way and allow Paz to follow Liam inside.
The Informer: First, he comes to us from South Boston, Massachusetts. He is accompanied to the ring by Paz Callaghan. He is...LIAM CALLAGHAN.
At the mention of his name, Liam Callaghan walks towards the ring with a determined look on his face. Callaghan is wearing a black shirt with the sleeves cut off, despite the frigid temperature. Hes also wearing blue jeans, black boots and his hands and wrists are taped up. Paz walks him to the ring, wearing #TheSociety t-shirt that The Followers handed her at the door. As Liam enters the ring, Paz positions herself among The Followers, who all continue looking into the ring with almost zombie-esque focus, ignoring the former champion among them. Paz wears a bit of concern on her face considering the setting, but shouts encouraging words for Liam who jogs in place in a corner.
The Informer: And his opponent
The Informer pauses for dramatic effect.
The Informer: She comes to us from right here in Detroit, Michigan. She is the difference maker. The Queen of the Community. The voice of those without...she is #TheSocietys own...BECKY...BALFOUR...LAWLESS.
The door to the warehouse opens as Elodie walks in first with a devilish grin on her face. Behind her, are Warren, Trent, and Seth and they are carrying Becky who is laying down with her arms outstretched, almost as if shes crowd surfing the Society members to the ring. As they reach the ring, they place Becky onto the ring apron. She steps into the ring and peels off her leather jacket, showcasing black and white gear, just as she would wear to any other event. The Informer steps out of the ring as Becky and Liam stare at each other across the ring. All four members of #TheSociety have split up and are each standing on one side of the ring.
The Informer: MATCH...START!
He shouts from the outside of the ring, officially beginning the contest.
BECKY BALFOUR-LAWLESS Vs. LIAM CALLAGHAN
Becky begins the match by laughing maniacally, a feat that fails to impress Liam Callaghan who looks outside the ring to make sure that his wife, Paz, is okay. Paz nods at him as Liam and Becky then meet in the middle of the ring. The two stare each other down before Becky slaps Callaghan in the face. The sound of the slap echoes throughout the old warehouse as Liam smiles. Liam then slaps Balfour-Lawless back which stumbles her backwards. Liam grabs her arm and whips her into the ropes and hits a high impact body drop which leaves Becky clutching her back and rolling to the far side of the ring as Seth pulls her out to give her a chance to recover. Lawless rubs the bottom of his wifes back as she complains that the pain is unbearable, possibly due to the ring being hardened because of the temperature. Seth looks at her and assures her that she will be fine, helping her back into the ring. Becky stands in a corner and is hesitant to move from it. Liam gives her no choice as he charges at her. Callaghan attempts a clothesline but Becky slips under him and then hits a roll up style pin. The referee drops down, making a fair count, that Liam is able to kick out of at a two count.
Balfour-Lawless rolls backwards and holds up two fingers saying she was this close to winning the exhibition. Liam makes it up to a knee and protests saying close doesnt cut it. Liam tries standing, but this time its the outspoken Society member that rushes at Callaghan, raising a knee to his head, dropping him back down to the canvas. Becky then drops her own body to the mat and slides over, pressing her palms to the mat and dragging her legs behind her. She slides her body up to Liams and then begins driving her head into his chest as he lay on the mat. Liam rolls out of the way and towards a corner as Becky drops to her chest and then rolls to her back, holding her forehead while laughing.
Paz is the only member of the audience who is vocal, shouting advice to Liam. Liam turns his head to her while on the mat and nods. The Followers remain stoic in their intense focus on the ring as Becky is the first up. She stumbles forward, still holding her own forehead after delivering those headbutts to Callaghan. She leans down to pick him up, but he lifts his right hand and connects with a throat thrust that spins Becky around and drops her to a knee. She clutches her throat, gagging and trying to get a breath as Liam gets up and walks over, grabbing her by her hair. He lifts her up and holds her in the air for thirty seconds before dropping her with a suplex. As he goes for a cover, Seth Lawless begins jawing him, distracting him. As Liam comes over to Seths side of the ring, Lawless backs off, holding both hands in the air. This, of course, gives Becky valuable time to recover once again. Becky stalks up behind Liam and places both hands on the back of Liam. She drags her hands, scraping her nails down his back. Despite wearing the shirt, Liam still screams out in pain at the dirty move by Becky as Seth smiles in approval of his distraction working.
Balfour-Lawless maintains her aggressive pace by leaping onto Liams back, but that was a mistake as Liam immediately backs into a corner, sandwiching Becky between him and the turnbuckles, driving the air out of her in the process. Liam turns around and hooks Becky for another suplex, but this time, he spins quickly and suplexes her into the corner, crumbling her up in an awkward position. You have to think he was going to go for a pin to end the match, but before he could, Warren grabs Beckys feet and pulls her out of the ring. Liam shakes his head with a half smile in the middle of the ring as Warren now coaches Becky and pep talks her. Warren finally helps her back into the ring. Becky appears dazed and runs at Liam going for a lazy clothesline attempt, fatigue clearly setting in, but Callaghan was prepared. He ducks the clothesline and hits a big boot to the face of Becky that knocks her down. Hes finally able to make a cover, but Becky kicks out at a two count.
Liam Callaghan: You wanna play dirty?
Liam steps on Beckys long, dark hair, and grabs her arms and pulls up, causing the voice of The Society to scream out in pain as she kicks her legs frantically. Liam eases up on the hold before yanking on her arms again, applying even more pressure this time. He finally lets go as Becky clutches her head. Liam looks out at Paz again to make sure shes okay. Paz, although she appears disgusted to be among The Followers, smiles in support of her husband. Liam hits a hits an elbow drop and goes for another cover, but the former Liberty champion kicks out again. Liam steps towards the ropes and is preparing for something big when Trent Grundy reaches into the ring and grabs his ankle. Becky, of course, has the ref distracted. Liam turns and kicks his free foot at Trent, but the distraction pays off as Becky is up and hits a dropkick to Callaghan that propels him forward with his chest bouncing off the ropes before he crumbles backwards to the mat.
Balfour-Lawless stalks the fallen Callaghan. She drops to her knees at his head and stretches her arms out, closing her eyes as she shrieks This is for You!. Little did she know, Callaghan was back to his knees. He hit a high impact european uppercut that nearly knocks out Balfour. He drags her to the middle of the ring and shouts out that its over. He scoops her up from the mat and hits The Boston Massacre, cross legged Michinoku Driver into a pin. The referee drops down to counter as all four members of #TheSociety hop onto the ring apron on all four different sides of the ring. Liam lets the pin go at a one and charges Elodie, knocking her in the face with a stiff right hand. He then charges at Trent who hops down. He moves on towards Warren, but Warren also drops down. Finally, Callaghan charges at Seth Lawless who drops down at the last split second.
Becky, however, has had time to recover. She makes it to her feet, wobbly legged, and connects with an elbow to the back of Liams neck that rattles him. Becky then grabs his head. She screams in his ear and then drops him with Hear Me Out her reverse ddt finisher. Becky crawls over on top of Liam as the referee drops down and makes the three count!
WINNER: Becky Balfour-Lawless
As soon as Becky gets the three count, she rolls off of Liam, exhausted. She lays on the mat, her chest heaving up and down as numerous $50 dollar bills begin falling from the ceiling of the warehouse, as promised if she won. The Followers begin scattering to collect the cash, finally out of their zombie-like trance.
The Informer: Your winner, by way of pinfall...BECKY...BALFOUR...LAWLESS!
Becky finally makes it up to her knees. She wears a grin on her face before busting out into a full on laugh. As all of The Followers were frantically picking up the money that was being rained down on them, Paz slides into the ring. Becky notices and stands up, staring Paz in the eyes. Becky glances behind her at the fallen Liam and points at him telling Paz that she can be next. Becky then kicks her feet back twice as if shes kicking dirt on Liam before collapsing to the mat and rolling under the bottom rope and into the arms of her Society family. They hoist her up, victorious, as Paz rips her Society shirt off and tosses it outside the ring at the Followers. She kneels down to tend to Liam as the screen flashes to static now with gray, black and white fuzz appearing as the end credits roll.
